Recovering From a Storm

PSE&G works around-the-clock to safely restore power to customers as quickly as possible.

Crews work to restore electricity to the largest numbers of customers first, taking into account “priority” customers, such as hospitals, police stations, fire stations, water and sewer facilities, communications facilities (TV, radio, and telephone), and customers on life-sustaining medical equipment.  At the same time, the utility restores power to homes and businesses, starting with the circuits serving the largest number of customers.

We also work hard to safely restore gas service after flooding.  Water must have receded, and in most municipalities, customers must have verification (via an inspection of the premises) that their building can be occupied safely. If the inspector finds damage to the meter box or gas appliances, the customer must have a contractor make repairs and get a town re-inspection before PSE&G can restore service.
