The Natural Gas Conversion Process

PSE&G is here to guide you through the natural gas conversion process. We can answer your questions and make the switch to natural gas as easy as possible. Conversion to natural gas heat is available to our existing gas customers who do not heat with gas, and customers in our gas territory who do not currently have gas service.

To get started:

  1. Email us at switchtogas@pseg.com or call 1-800-211-4890.
  2. An Energy Solutions Specialist will contact you within two business days. To expedite the processing of your request, click here to view a list of information you will need.
  3. Your licensed plumber or heating contractor will verify equipment size for the gas load. PSE&G will determine if a gas main extension or service connection upgrade is required.
  4. If there is existing gas service, PSE&G will determine if the gas supply is adequate to meet the additional load. If there is not existing gas service, PSE&G will provide you or your contractor with a cost estimate for the installation of service to your home.
  5. New gas equipment is installed by the licensed plumber or contractor.
  6. PSE&G will perform a safety inspection and set the meter, if necessary.
  7. Municipal inspections are completed and gas service is activated.
