Service Upgrade / New Installations

PSE&G’s Construction Inquiry department can help you get new or upgraded electric and gas service to buildings that are being constructed or renovated. It can also help you process requests for new service to facilitate a move from oil to gas, and process requests for temporary service and pole relocations. Please ensure that your site is within PSE&G's electric and/or gas service area prior to initiating a request.

It’s best to familiarize yourself with PSE&G’s process and apply for service as early as possible. Simple residential projects may take 3-6 weeks, while larger commercial or industrial projects can take significantly longer.  Take into consideration that the timeframe will vary depending on the specifics of a request, including the availability of service, the amount of time it takes to acquire road opening permits, completion of municipal inspections, etc.

Should you require removal of gas or electric service prior to demolishing a structure, a separate application must be submitted to PSE&G prior to submitting a request for new service. Municipalities require confirmation of removal from PSE&G before they will issue a demolition permit.

Residential Service Applications:
Required in order to initiate new service or changes to electric or gas load for single-family or multi-family buildings (up to three residential units and house meter). Completed applications are processed in the order that they are received.

Commercial Service Application for existing buildings:
Required in order to initiate changes to electric or gas load for commercial and industrial buildings, or multi-family buildings (four or more meters.) Note that site plans are required if there is not yet a foundation at the site. Completed applications are processed in the order that they are received.

Commercial Service Applications for new buildings or those that are requesting service for the first time:
Required in order to initiate an order for new electric or gas service for commercial and industrial buildings, or multi-family buildings (four or more meters.) Note that site plans are required if there is not yet a foundation at the site. Completed applications are processed in the order that they are received.
