PSE&G Replacing Gas Facilities in Washington Township

(July 6, 2012 - Newark, NJ) - Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest utility, is replacing a gas main on Washington Avenue in Washington Township to ensure safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners. This project is part of PSE&G’s annual gas main and service replacement, which will help strengthen the distribution system.

An older 12” cast iron main is being replaced with a new 12” plastic main. The work is being done on Washington Avenue between Pascack Road and Jackson Avenue.

Construction will begin on July 9 and is expected to be completed on or about September 3, weather conditions permitting. Scheduled work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with no anticipated weekend work.

Local police will direct traffic flow and determine what partial road closings, lane restrictions or detours might be needed while the construction is underway. PSE&G regrets any inconvenience the project may cause.

For everyone’s safety, PSE&G crews use work area protection. Traffic cones and utility work signs will allow the job to be done safely. The utility reminds motorists to slow down when driving through the area.

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) is New Jersey’s oldest and largest regulated gas and electric delivery utility, serving nearly three-quarters of the state’s population. PSE&G is the winner of the ReliabilityOne Award for superior electric system reliability. PSE&G is a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (PSEG) (NYSE:PEG), a diversified energy company (www.pseg.com).
