This fuel diversity helps to mitigate risks associated with fuel price volatility and market demand cycles. Our total generating output in 2010, excluding amounts related to the Texas generation facilities which are being sold, was approximately 56,700 GWh. While overall generation has increased over the past several years, the mix by fuel type has changed slightly in recent years due to the relatively favorable price of natural gas as compared to coal, making it more economical to run certain of our gas units than our coal units.   Also see Providing Safe and Reliable Energy and 10-K, Generation Capacity.
