Energy Efficiency
PSE&G is investing more than $300 million in energy efficiency, putting people to work and helping lower energy bills.
There is no cleaner or cheaper kilowatt-hour than the one that is not used.
PSE&G’s commitment to energy efficiency is a key component of our commitment to combating climate change and kick starting New Jersey's economy. This is why we are investing $307 million in 10 initiatives that are helping fund energy efficiency investments in places where they are needed most.
PSE&G is spreading the benefits of energy efficiency to the residents of NJ cities and to institutions that are used by the community, like hospitals, government offices and non-profits. These programs are aimed at customers that might not otherwise make investments in energy efficiency that could lower their energy bills due to the upfront costs and long pay-back times.
In addition to energy savings and environmental benefits, PSE&G’s program is helping to create good jobs at a time when they are greatly needed.
Our energy efficiency programs have helped PSE&G customers save more than 281 million kilowatt-hours of annual energy use. This is equal to the amount of electricity used by all of our residential customers in the City of Paterson.
The PSE&G programs match customers who would benefit from energy efficiency upgrades with initiatives that help pay for them:
- Hospital Efficiency Program
- Direct Install Program (helps small businesses)
There has been enormous response to these programs, applications exceeded available resources. The programs are now fully committed and we are not currently taking applications.
Energy Efficiency upgrades can include furnaces, hot water heater, boilers, chillers, motors, pumps, insulation, energy management systems, lighting, etc. Financial benefits include interest-free financing and on-bill repayment and could also include incentives up to 80% of the project’s cost.
$129M to help hospitals make substantial and ongoing energy efficiency improvements
Energy Efficiency work is completed at the first 19 hospitals in the program. We expect to enroll about 20 more in the next phase of the initiative.
