Gas Safety for First Responders
Strengthening Standard Operating Procedures

As NJ’s largest electric and gas utility, we know how critical safety is, and the importance of training and practice. To help improve public safety, PSE&G has compiled information on materials that may help first responders as they develop and strengthen their emergency standard operating procedures.

To be clear, New Jersey’s first responders have different needs, have access to different resources and are responsible for their own assessments. The guidance offered here is intended to help you develop and strengthen your organization’s standard operating procedures for utility emergencies.

PSE&G hopes to “add value” to programs already in place by allowing for an exchange of ideas and information on reference materials and best practices. Here you will be able to find hazard awareness information from government and industry.

Want to share your guidance and practices? Send it to us and we’ll post it to provide this community with additional resources.

Looking for gas safety information? There are many resources available. Here are some that we -- and you -- have found:

Raise natural gas hazard awareness:

Enhance standard operating procedures for natural gas emergencies: Additional reference material for standard operating procedures and hazard awareness: Finally, you should know that PSE&G can support CERT training with instructions on how to shut-off gas service.

By partnering with PSE&G to enforce damage prevention and raise awareness of the state’s One-Call law,  you can help prevent gas emergencies.  Join PSE&G in making gas safety a priority. The cost of inaction is just too great.
