How long will it be before I get my letter? Letters are faxed to customers the same day Demolition receives confirmation that all electric and gas orders have been completed. The amount of time necessary to complete a project can vary greatly, and may take up to 8 weeks. Some of the factors affecting completion are weather, the need for Road Opening Permits, whether the project must be reviewed by engineering, the extent of the project and the type of crew needed to complete the work, and the volume of customer requests already existing.

How much does it cost? Normally, there is no charge for the removal of services; however, customers may be charged for other work not associated with the removal of services, such as pole relocations or the relocation of other customers’ services if required to demolish a structure. (Back to Top)
Someone came out to take the meter already – why didn’t I get my letter yet? There is more to the removal of services than taking out the meters, and the same crews will not perform the additional work. Your letter will go out as soon as all necessary work is complete.

Can I arrange for anyone else to perform the disconnects? No. For safety purposes, and by regulation, only PSE&G or its agents may remove its equipment.

Who should I contact with questions? The Demolition group is your central point of contact at PSE&G for this process. They will coordinate the work with field offices and answer your questions. You can e-mail them at demolition@pseg.com, or call 800-817-3366 between 8 am and 3:30, Monday – Friday.
