PSE&G provides electric and gas service to 75% of New Jersey’s population. That’s a lot of ground for our employees to cover – actually more than 43 million miles a year. Traffic accidents can put our employees in danger and keep us from reaching you when you need us. For everyone's safety, we recommend that customers follow the same safety rules we do:
- Leave 3 seconds traveling distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
- When driving through an intersection, take your foot off the gas, hover it over the brake, check both ways for vehicles, pedestrians, other hazards, and then continue. This practice prepares you for emergency braking and only takes one second.
- Give driving 100% of your attention. Don’t be distracted by cell phones, CDs, PDA's, iPods, eating food, or drinking coffee and other beverages. For safety’s sake, pull over if necessary, and remember that inNew Jersey, it’s against the law to use a cell phone while driving unless it’s hands-free.
