| Odessa Power Plant - Texas, USA |
 |
| In August 2001, PSEG Texas, (formerly Texas Independent Energy), the 1,000 megawatt Odessa electric generation plant located in Ector County, Texas, started commercial operation. In July, 2004, PSEG Global acquired the remaining 50% share of the plant. |
 |
The plant provides customers with safe, reliable, low cost and fuel efficient power produced using environmentally friendly gas turbines.
Odessa is a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant that is producing electricity for a growing Texas – enough for more than 500,000 homes throughout the state. Odessa’s state-of-the-art technology ensures maximum efficiency, requiring one-third less fuel and water for operation than conventional power plants. In addition, Odessa’s use of technology ensures the highest standard of environmental protection making it one of the environmentally cleanest power plants in Texas.

The plant is strategically sited in west Texas with access to major Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) markets as well as to an abundant supply of natural gas. The plant sells electricity into the ERCOT grid through contracts and on the spot market.
Odessa is the second 1,000 MW megawatt power plant to be built by PSEG Texas in Texas. In January 2001,the joint venture began commercial operation of the Guadalupe power plant.(Refer to separate profile for details on Guadalupe).
