Dollars for Doers The PSEG Dollars for Doers grant program is the company's way of recognizing, supporting, and encouraging the valuable contributions of our employees' volunteer efforts. The program provides $250 grants to nonprofit organizations on behalf of PSEG volunteers.
This year’s PSEG Dollars for Doers program is better than ever because more employees can participate. The program is now available to all eligible employee volunteers, no matter where they live or work, or where the organization they serve is located. Employees no longer need to complete six months of volunteer service to an organization before applying. Lastly, but certainly not least, PSEG teams can now apply! These changes provide opportunities for additional PSEG employees to participate. Our goal is to recognize more employees for their community service.

Recognizing Excellence in Volunteerism
 |
Each year, PSEG recognizes employees' volunteer efforts by awarding grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to the qualified nonprofit organization where they volunteer. Up to seventeen PSEG employees or employee teams are honored annually as winners of the company's Recognizing Excellence in Volunteerism awards. Representatives of the organizations served by these employees attend the PSEG Recognition Celebration, where the award-winning volunteers are recognized in front of many of their peers and senior management. |
Time after time, each organization that receives a contribution on behalf of a PSEG employee expresses appreciation not only for the monetary donation, but also for the valuable gift of our associates' time, spirit and dedication to helping others.
Employees may nominate themselves or a co-worker for the prestigious awards, or they may be nominated by the organization they serve. The 2007 recipients were formally recognized at a luncheon held at PSEG headquarters in December 2007.

Making a positive difference in the life of a child can happen in many ways. At PSEG, employee volunteers make a commitment to tutor a group of students from Newark's Quitman Street School. On Wednesdays, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at PSE&G's Newark headquarters, the students meet with their PSEG tutors, who also serve as mentors and role models. Protestant Community Centers Inc. (PCCI) sponsors this initiative, known as DEEP-C.The program runs from October through May of each school year.

Junior Achievement of New Jersey
| It’s never too early for students to begin preparing for careers, and corporate employees can be good role models. Through Junior Achievement of New Jersey, PSEG employees work with students at Belmont Runyon Elementary School in Newark and Paterson No. 5 School in Paterson. |

These volunteers teach economic concepts to children in Kindergarten through Grade 8, stressing the relationship between school and future success. Junior Achievement's programs complement class curricula and are easily integrated into K-12 lesson plans. March of Dimes “To improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.” That’s the mission of the March of Dimes which, in its own infancy in the early 1900s, conducted life saving research to fight and beat the U.S. polio epidemic. Today, the organization’s work continues in full force, with an ever-growing list of accomplishments.
Annually, hundreds of PSEG employees participate in March of Dimes’ WalkAmerica, now called the March for Babies. It is the organization’s biggest fundraising event. Employees also conduct fundraising activities throughout the year. The 2007 March of Dimes WalkAmerica campaign results prove that we as a company can certainly accomplish great things. In 2007, 525 PSEG walkers raised over $216,000 making our company, once again, #1 among the nation’s 279 utilities that participated and the #2 company overall in New Jersey, preceded only by Kmart. In addition to our company’s first place results, PSEG received three Crystal Awards from the northern, central and southern divisions of the March of Dimes. A fourth Crystal Award was presented to PSEG Nuclear for their outstanding work.
In total WalkAmerica 2007 raised $110 million; more than three-quarters of the money raised went directly towards fulfilling the mission of the March of Dimes. Supporting the March of Dimes is a proud tradition at PSEG, and the employees have their own leadership steering committee to coordinate the company’s support to this well-respected nonprofit. To contact the steering committee, please send an email to MarchofDimes@pseg.com.
