PSE&G’s Urban Development model is a holistic approach that moves communities toward self-sufficiency by working with community development corporations, nonprofit organizations and neighborhood groups to develop comprehensive community development plans. If you would like more information on how to develop a community development corporation, PSE&G and the New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute have developed a step-by-step resource guide, the Community Development Tool Kit.
PSE&G’s “Power of Commitment” to Urban Communities
As a corporate neighbor and an integral part of New Jersey’s inner-city neighborhoods, PSE&G is committed to making the state’s urban communities socially and economically sound. Beginning in 1996, with the South Ward Neighborhood Partnership, PSE&G’s Urban Development team has made great strides to help inner city residents improve their lives and surroundings, and the team has often been recognized for their work.

In 2000, McGraw-Hill and the Partners for Livable Communities also cited the South Ward Neighborhood Partnership as one of 50 best practice case studies featured in “The Livable City, Revitalizing Urban Communities.” Published by Mc-Graw-Hill with Partners for Livable Communities, the book addresses every facet of improving livability and mentioned PSE&G efforts.
PSE&G received the Corporate Partnership Award in 2003 from the International Economic Development Council. PSE&G was nominated and won the Exemplary Private Partner Award at the 2nd Annual Local Initiatives Support Corporation - NJ (LISC) Neighborhood Achievement Awards Celebration in 2004.
