• Fairmount Housing/Bergen Communities United

In 2003, PSE&G began working with Fairmount Housing/Women Rising to develop a revitalization plan for the McGinley Square neighborhood located in Jersey City. Residents, community organizations and other stakeholders have named the group the “Bergen Communities United” (BCU) and established its governing by-laws. In 2005, the BCU hired a professional planner to develop a neighborhood plan to coordinate and implement the process. September is the targeted month for the neighborhood plan to be completed. There will be two versions of the plan. One will be a summary in a newsletter format that will go out to approximately 5,000 households in the neighborhood and to other key persons within the state. The other will be a more formal 50-60 page plan that will go to the Department of Community Affairs, the City of Jersey City, and to an estimated 200 key leaders.

In addition to providing financial support for the planning process, PSE&G serves on the Community Advisory Steering Committee and the Resource Development Committee.
