Entrepreneurial Training Institute (ETI)

PSE&G headquarters has been home to ETI’s Newark classes since its inception in 1992. A long time supporter of New Jersey-based small businesses, PSE&G has assisted a number of students with registration fees, thereby enabling many to embark on the entrepreneurial journey. ETI’s eight-week, 3-hour course is structured in an open forum for discussion and lesson review. The program is designed to reinforce study material and allow students to ask questions specific to the development of business plans and business operations. After completion, students are required to present their business plans to accountants, lawyers, marketing professionals and lenders. There have been approximately 100 graduates of this program who used our location within the last 12 years.

Seton Hall University/Institute on Work

To address change in the delivery of social, community and economic services at the state and federal levels, as well as the growing roles and responsibilities of community and faith-based not-for-profit organizations(C/FBO), Seton Hall University created the Institute on Work (IOW). The IOW is a training and technical assistance program, which through the development of business skills, helps C/FBOs move toward social entrepreneurship.

In collaboration with the Entrepreneurial Training Institute (ETI), a part of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and the Governor’s Faith-Based Community Development Initiative, IOW assesses the readiness of interested groups through site visits, and forwards written recommendations to ETI.

ETI, with the assistance of PSE&G, provides the appropriate training. IOW facilitates up to five students through each course’s eight sessions. They also assist students with written assignment and provide preparatory coaching for ETI’s expert Panel Review, which occurs after course completion. The IOW has emerged as one of New Jersey's academic leaders by expanding and helping to sustain the work of not-for-profit organizations.
