What are the PSEG Foundation’s priority areas of giving?
- Education – PSEG’s main focus areas are: workforce development for K-12 or higher education; after-school programs with an educational component; math/science/technology/engineering programs; and, limited funding for special youth programs providing education to underserved populations.
- Environment – PSEG’s main focus areas are: global warming and climate change initiatives; renewables; conservation; community greening; and, energy efficiency.
- Community and Economic Development – PSEG’s main focus is in revitalizing urban communities by supporting the efforts of community development corporations and other nonprofits that are constructing and/or rehabilitating facilities for affordable or market-rate housing, developing new businesses and entrepreneurial opportunities, creating jobs and/or developing workforces via job skills and life skills training for adults, pubic safety issues efforts to help protect and preserve neighborhoods.

What additional criteria are considered?
- The organization must be an IRS approved 501(c)(3) or a 170(B).
- The organization’s scope, i.e. geographic area served and number of people that will benefit.
- Effectiveness/results of the program, as well as availability of funding sources and program budgets.
- Priority consideration is given to organizations/programs in PSEG’s service area.
- Limited funding is available for arts, sports, community fairs, and other community functions. Within these areas, consideration will be given to how closely the organization or activity aligns with PSEG’s three funding priorities.

What types of organizations or programs are not eligible for funding?
- Individuals.
- Organizations not exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
- Organizations outside the PSEG service area.
- Sectarian purpose programs that promote religious doctrines or exclude participants based on religion.
- Political causes, candidates, organizations or campaigns.
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, sex or religion.
- Organizations with a primary purpose of influencing legislation.
- Athletic, labor or fraternal groups.
- Organizations that address single-health issues.
- Endowments.
- Programs/organizations for which PSEG is asked to serve as the sole funder.

How many years may I receive funding from the PSEG Foundation? Generally, a particular program or organization will not be funded for more than three consecutive years. After that time, the organization can inquire as to when it may submit any future application for funding.
